Drumline of the Year

The Maranda Show came to Hastings High School to video the drumline playing some of their cadences as well as do interviews with the students today. Maranda was so great when she interacted with the students. She spent about an hour with them taking video and talking to all of them. She took pictures with all of them and even had James Wezell, our section leader, teach her how to play a little bit. She tried playing in the line as well and it was pretty funny!
All of this footage will air Thursday, February 16 at 4:30pm on WOTV and will then be put online around 6:00pm.
Thank you for all of you who voted for Hastings to be the 2017 Drumline of the Year! Maranda absolutely loved the students and her time here at Hastings. We were very honored to have her and her team with us today.
Hastings High School Drumline will be opening for DrumLINE LIVE! Next Thursday, the 23rd, at 7:30pm at Miller Auditorium. They will also get awarded a trophy for winning the competition and get to meet the cast!

Artprize 2016!

The 4th grade artists of Star, Northeastern and St. Rose Elementary Schools enjoyed amazing field trips to Artprize in Grand Rapids last week! Students attended an Artprize Education Days program called "Chair Camp" at the GR Public Museum, where they learned about design, and then created their own unique miniature chairs to be on display at the museum for the duration of Artprize! We also explored Artprize entries at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, The Gerald R. Ford Museum and The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel! Thank you to HEEF and Artprize transportation grants for making this exciting adventure possible!
