The Hastings Area School System serves a total population of approximately 20,000 people who live within the boundaries of the 180 square mile district.

Education programs and services are provided by a highly qualified educational and operational staff for residents of all ages through four elementary schools, (developmental kindergarten through fifth grade), a middle school,(grades six through eight), a high school, (grades nine through twelve), a comprehensive community education program, that includes both credit and enrichment classes for adults and a pre-school program for four-year olds.  Hastings High School offers diversified academic and vocational programs.

School facilities are used by many community organizations for their activities, and parental and volunteer involvement in school programs is extensive.
