Hello Saxons! Welcome to the Middle School Counseling Page.Name: Mrs. Pamela ColeEmail: email@example.comPhone: 269-945-6146Fax: 269-945-6101I am Mrs. Pamela Cole, the middle school counselor at Hastings Middle School. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Counseling from Michigan State University in 2004. The 2018-2019 school year marks my fourth year working with Hastings Middle School students and my 15th serving as a middle school counselor. I look forward to every day I get to spend working with middle school students and feel very lucky to do this job.
As a middle school counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive and well-rounded development of our students in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social domains:
- Individual counseling
- Small group counseling
- Classroom guidance (Large Group Counseling)
- Attendance and participation in academic intervention meetings
- Organize and administer building testing
- Observe students in many different school environments
- Consult and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, administrators and social workers
- Respond to school crisis or emergency situations
- Provide information and resources to parents on many different issues
This year I am excited to have Mr. Ryan Rose working with me again as a counseling intern. Mr. Rose worked with me on Fridays last year for most of the year. This year he will be available to work with students on Thursdays and Fridays during the 2018-2019 school year. Here is a little bit of information about Mr. Rose to help you get to know him. He is a former director at the YMCA of Barry County. He is currently a pastor at Hastings Baptist Church. He is also a track coach here at Hastings High School. He is currently working on his Master Of Arts in Counseling at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, that is attached to Cornerstone University. This is really a wonderful opportunity for us at Hastings Middle School. He will be helping me with the above list of activities in order to better meet student needs.
I am also providing assistance to the Hastings Area Schools as the district Positive Behavior Intervention Assessment Coordinator which will have me attending meetings at all of the area schools. In order to better serve students, parents, and teachers I have created an online form that will allow for anyone to request assistance from me or Mr. Rose regardless of if I am in my office or on the middle school campus. I intend to meet with the student, parent, or teacher within 24 hours of the request as long as I am back in the building within that time frame. My hope is that this will create easier access to counseling services.
