Early College:  In a few weeks, applications will be available for the Hastings Early College program. Students in grades 8-10 may have the opportunity to apply.  Early Middle College (EMC) is a program designed to offer students the opportunity to leave high school with a high school diploma and a college credential at no cost. Early College students add a 5th year to high school, but only take college level courses during their 5th year. Participants commit to the program in the fall of their 11th grade year. Once a student commits to Early College, they must complete the program through the 5th year. Hastings Early College students attend Kellogg Community College (KCC) where they earn an industry certificate, associate degree, or the Michigan Early Middle College Association (MEMCA) certificate. Some students leave the program with multiple certifications. This program is designed for students who are the first in their immediate family to attend college, underserved, or at risk of not attending college without additional supports. It is also designed for any student who plans to start their post-secondary education at KCC. An informational session will be held for students and parents in March during spring conferences. Please contact Kelly Ibarra, HHS Counselor, for more information.
