HMS Daily Announcements
September 18, 2019
Reminder: Today, 9/18/19, is a half day of school. HMS will dismiss at 11:05 a.m.
Attendance: It is proven that good attendance is key to being successful in school. Do you know that if a student misses even just one day every two weeks, that it results in 10% of the entire school year missed? Tardies are defined as missing 10 minutes or less of a class period, anything more than that is an absence.
No cross country practice today, 9/18/19, due to the half day of school.
The girls and boys cross country teams competed at their first I-8 conference Jamboree yesterday.
The girls team improved two places as a team by beating Pennfield and Northwest. They next set their sights on Coldwater and Lumen Christi. Leading the team were experienced 8th graders Lily Comensoli, Adrianne VanDenburg, and Camilla Loss. The team scoring was rounded out by 6th grade newcomers Shiloh Crandall and Olivia Friddle.
The boys defended their number 1 place from last year with a 1st place finish. Western and Harper Creek pushed the team, but couldn't overcome the boys tight team pack. The boys were led by Caleb LaBoe, Reuben Solmes, Jonah Teed, Riley Shults, and Micah Johnson. They had 4 runners in the top 10. Charlie Nickels and Jonah Lewis added team strength by displacing the other teams' 4th or 5th runners.
Volleyball: Both teams are home again Thursday when they host Marshall. There will be practice for volleyball players tomorrow on the half day of school.
Team Pictures: Cross Country and Volleyball will have individual and team pictures on September 24th.
T-Shirt Orders: Saxon Pride shirt orders are due this Friday, September 20th. Orders can be turned into the office.
