We had a wonderful crowd last Wednesday for our Thanksgiving Feast.  Thank you to those that were able to attend!

Food Drive: The Central Elementary Student Council is organizing our annual food drive. Items will be collected from Nov. 26 to Dec. 14. All items will be donated to a local food pantry. Items being collected are:
    -Breakfast foods- cereal, oatmeal, granola
    -Pasta
-Soups and sauces-spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly
-Desserts and snacks- cookies, brownies, crackers, fruit snacks
    -Canned fruits and veggies
    -Boxed side dishes- rice, potatoes
-Personal hygiene products- shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant

Please check all item expiration dates and be sure that cans are not dented or damaged.

Thanks for helping our students practice generosity!

    KickStart Deposit Day:

Friday, November 30 is a KickStart to Career Deposit Day.  First through third graders are invited to bring any amount of money to deposit in their KickStart account.

    STOMP Assembly:

The STOMP Assembly will be held on Friday, November 30.  Thank you for all the hard work in making the fundraiser a BIG success this year!

    Christmas Store:

The Christmas Store is back!  It will be held on December 17 and 18.  We are looking for donations of household items, games, etc. for the store.  Please no clothing.  We also are in need of gift wrap and tape.  Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    Outdoor Clothing:

Please remember to send your child everyday with a warm coat, hat, mittens, snow pants, and boots.  Students must have boots and snowpants if there is snow on the ground to be able to play on the grass or wood chip areas.  As you know, the weather in Michigan can change quickly, so sending everything every day will ensure that your child is prepared!

I hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am thankful for the students, family and staff here at Central Elementary!

Happy Friday!  The snow sure was beautiful today, but it is a reminder that it is important for students to be prepared for snow.  Please send your child with a warm coat, hat, and mittens/gloves everyday.  Also on snowy days, students need to have boots and snowpants to be able to play on the grass and woodchip areas where the snow collects.  If students do not have snow pants and boots, they will still go outside, but will have to play on the concrete/asphalt areas of the playground.  Don't forget to send indoor shoes as well for PE and more comfortable feet during inside time!  If your family needs assistance to get these items, please contact the school office or Mrs. Lucas our social worker.

Next Tuesday, November 13 at 6:30 the district is hosting our Family Reading Night at Northeastern Elementary.  Students from all elementary buildings are invited.  There will be games, activities, and a parent information meeting included.  Come out have fun with reading with your child!

The food service is hosting the Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, Nov. 15.  Family members are invited to come and eat with their child/grandchild.  Lunch for adults is $3.  Students will also be charged normal lunch pricing as well.  Please note that the lunch schedule is adjusted to allow for the crowds.  Our schedule is as follows:

    11:05- 4th Grade
    11:25- 1st Grade
    11:45- Kindergarten
    12:05- 2nd Grade
    12:25- 3rd Grade
    12:45- 5th Grade

A reminder that Wednesday, November 21 is a half day of school to begin the Thanksgiving Break!

The PTO is in need of Christmas Store items.  They are setting up a "store" with garage sale-type items.  If you have some "treasures" at your home that you are not in need of anymore, please consider donating them to the store.  You can drop-off items to the office or send them to school with your child to bring to the office.  Please no clothing.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Cold Weather!

Posted by Sarah Geukes on 11/7/2018 4:00:00 PM

As the cold, snowy weather approaches, please make sure that you are sending warm coats, hats, and mittens/gloves each day with your child. Also, if there is snow on the ground, students are expected to wear boots and snow pants. Those that are not wearing both boots and snow pants will need to stay on the asphalt/concrete areas by the side of the building. If you need assistance with boots, coats, snow pants, etc., please contact the office or Mrs. Lucas, our social worker. We will do our best to connect you with resources available in the community.

  • Parking

Posted by Sarah Geukes on 10/31/2018 12:00:00 PM

Remember the street directly in front of the school is NO PARKING AT ANY TIME. This needs to be accessible for buses. Please do not park here to drop students, run into the office, or attend events at any time. There is parking across the street from the front of the building, in the parking lot, or down side streets. If you are coming into the building, you will need to park in a legal parking spot and walk into the building. Students arriving anytime after 7:55 am should be signed in at the office by an adult, not just dropped off. We have had people blocking buses and other safety issues. Please help us keep our students safe!
