    6th Grade Supply List:

Welcome incoming 6th grade students to our brand new

    Hastings Middle School!

This is a suggested list of items for you to have for 6th grade. Please understand that we know not everyone can afford the suggested list of items, but we do know that parents want direction on what to get.  If you are able and willing to purchase these things, that would be great!

    •  A trapper keeper or zippered  binder
    • Combination lock for your locker (optional, but good idea)
    • Folders for all  4 core classes (you will keep these in your binder or locker and bring to class each day) (ELA, math, science, social studies)
    • Pencils with erasers ( lots of them)
    • Colored pencils
    • Pencil pouch
    • Pens (A few of us teachers use red, so it would be nice to have a different color.)
    • Individual pencil sharpener, so helpful*
    • Scissors, glue stick and yellow highlighter are helpful
    • Earbuds or headphones with a protective case.

    Other information:

If you wish to donate classroom items, please send them to the HMS office supply room and mark them 6th grade supplies.  Thanks!

    • Boxes of tissue, hand sanitizer, paper towel, 409 cleaner, pencils, pencil top erasers, index cards,  paper clips, whiteboard magnets, Expo markers, adult scissors, flashcard sets (science, social studies, grammar, multiplication, etc), new puzzles (500-1000 pieces),  and hand wipes.

In place of middle school agenda books, 6th graders will have a daily agenda sheet that they fill out for each hour/each day and signed by their advisory teacher at the day’s end.  This will take place for at least the first nine weeks and then on an “as needed”/wanted basis after that.

Thank you so much for doing what you do for your child to be successful at school.  Enjoy the summer, and we will see you soon!

A physical must be on file with the school to participate in practice and tryout.

A sports physical must be on file in the office for a student to try out for a school sport. Physical cards are available in the HMS office to take to your doctor for a physical.

Athletic schedules are maintained online at http://hastingshighschool.bigteams.com/ However, if you prefer a paper copy of the pdf version, these are available at the athletics homepage. PDF versions are not updated with late changes or cancellations however.
