2026 Bond Proposal: Priority School Improvements

Bond Facts
On November 3, 2026, our community will vote on a school bond proposal for Hastings Area School System. If approved by voters, this bond would provide $24,800,000 for district-wide improvements with an estimated zero tax rate increase over the current rate.

The proposal intends to make our schools:

  • SAFER FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF

  • EFFICIENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE

  • PRACTICAL FOR TOP-PRIORITY PROJECTS AND MODERN LEARNING

SAFETY & SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS

If approved, the bond would provide funds to:

  • Improve secure entryways at all schools

  • Add security glazing film

  • Replace PA systems

  • Replace fire alarm systems

EFFICIENT INFRASTRUCTURE

If approved, the bond would provide funds to:

  • Improve aging and overcrowded kitchen spaces at all elementary schools

  • Improve parking and traffic flows

  • Renovate high school restrooms

  • Increase the capacity of the stadium bleachers

  • Replace aging bus fleet

PRACTICAL & MODERN LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

If approved, the bond would provide funds to:

  • Modernize classroom environments for core academic subjects at the high school

  • Improve CTE and hands-on learning spaces at the high school and middle school

Financial Information
If approved, the bond would provide $24,800,000 for all of the above facility improvements with a zero-mill increase projected over the current millage rate.

Voting Information
Polls are open: Tuesday, November 3 from 7:00AM-8:00PM.
Absentee voting: Ballots available by September 24.
