The Hastings Chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) competed at the Region One Leadership Conference at Davenport University this past Friday.

Sixteen BPA members competed in events from accounting to web design. Five members took home a total of seven awards for Hastings, which qualifies them to compete at the State Leadership Conference at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in March. The results are as follows:

— Gavyn, fifth place in Fundamental Accounting
— Benjamin, third place in Digital Marketing Concepts
— Garrett, second place in Computer Security, and fourth place in Information Technology Concepts
— Emiliano, fourth place in Financial Math and Analysis Concepts and fifth place in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications

A huge thank you to the following Hastings staff who volunteered and helped make the conference a success: Dr. Nicholas Damico – Superintendent; Ed Domke – CTE Director; Teresa Heide – HS Principal; Peg Denman – Counselor; Elliza Tolles – Counselor; Krisi Erb – Student Services Secretary; Trisha Kietzman – First Grade Teacher; Tim Kietzman – former Technology Specialist and CTE Paraprofessional; and Carrie Carl – Sixth Grade Science Teacher and FFA Advisor.
