Students from Hastings High School were in attendance at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference (SLC) March 12-15 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. At this conference, students participated in the opening reception, dinner, and awards sessions. This year's state theme was “Sail to Success” and students participated in open event testing held in the DeVos Place Convention Center.
Dynamic leadership development seminars called Legacy Launchers were available during downtime before and after competition. Students participated in business-related events and worked hard to compete for places in the top spots. The following students attended and competed in the following events:

Emiliano Vilchis Rodriguez: Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications, Open Events
Meredith Ansorge placed 7th in the state in Business Spelling for Hastings BPA Chapter and was recognized on stage for her achievement.
“We are proud of our students’ hard work and dedication this year as they showcased their skills and competed against other students across the state,” said chapter co-advisor Jeff Erb, who teaches Business, Management and Marketing classes.
“The students are eager to plan for next year with new ideas they have gained from their experiences.”
Bob Carl and Erb, Hastings High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Business Teachers, mentored students in preparation for competition events.
Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a dynamic youth organization which provides leadership and business opportunities for high school students to prepare them in their selection as they make decisions on their future careers. The skills that students learn through participating in a variety of business experiences are beneficial and will help prepare them for a career in the workforce.
