Today, we hope that everyone has the opportunity to pause, remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
At Hastings Area School System, we are deeply grateful for the heroes who have served and those who continue to serve. Thank you.

Northeastern Elementary students are burning off all sorts of energy today for Field Day!

On the eve of graduation, Hastings High School seniors came together at the Hastings Performing Arts Center on Wednesday for Senior Honors Night.
The evening celebrated students receiving academic and athletic awards, along with a wide range of local scholarships made possible by generous individuals, families, and community organizations. It was a great moment to reflect on and recognize everything the Class of 2025 has achieved.
A little (or a lot) of rain wasn’t enough to wash out Central Elementary’s field day today. They moved the action inside and still had a great time.
Two Saxons are headed to Kellogg Community College to continue their bowling careers. Miles Lipsey signed his National Letter of Intent last week, and Hunter Pennington made it official today. Huge congratulations to both!

At Hastings Southeastern Elementary, 36 students had the opportunity to connect with a dedicated mentor throughout the school year. With the year coming to a close, we hosted a special assembly today to recognize and celebrate these mentors for their unwavering support and commitment to their students.
Our awesome fifth graders just took home their own copies of the annual “My Future Me” book, hot off the press from J-Ad Graphics.
This special keepsake is packed with letters from students in schools across the county, written to their future selves. Inside holds big dreams, bold advice, and some heartwarming and hilarious predictions.
Here's some advice from Kora at Star Elementary:
“Do not let anyone, and I mean anyone, ever, dull your sparkle!”
Well said, Kora.
Due to the forecasted cold and potentially rainy weather on Thursday, the Hastings High School graduation ceremony will be moved indoors to the school gymnasium.
Please note that all other details of the event, including the 7:00 p.m. start time, will remain the same.

Fifth graders at Northeastern Elementary had a special visit today from Judge Michael Schipper!
Judge Schipper spoke with students about his role in the judicial system and gave them an introduction to how our legal system works. Thank you, Judge Schipper, for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with our students!

This afternoon, students at Southeastern Elementary stepped out of their classrooms to enjoy the fun and excitement of Field Day!

🎉 Our seniors made it to their final day of school!🎓
We had a lot of fun this morning with one of our favorite annual traditions: Decision Day. This is an opportunity to celebrate all the plans ahead of our seniors after they leave our halls. Thanks to generous donations, we also gave away a ton of great prizes to send them on their way in style!
Whether you're off to college, trade school, straight into a job, or forging your own path, you’ll always be a Saxon!
Today, our third graders traded the classroom for the barnyard at Ag Awareness Day at the Barry County Fairgrounds! 🐄🌽
Hosted by several local organizations, this hands-on event gave students a closer look at the many parts of the agriculture industry, which is a vital part of life in Barry County. It was a day filled with learning, discovery, and lots of fun!

Our fifth graders got a sneak peek at middle school life today. They spent the morning touring the building, checking out classrooms, and getting the inside scoop on what to expect next year.
Big thanks to the middle school staff for welcoming our soon-to-be sixth graders and helping them feel right at home.
Today, Tech Ninjas from all four elementary buildings visited the CTE department at the high school. Students visited Engineering Design, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Construction Trades, Welding, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Marketing classes. High School students shared their expertise and students enjoyed learning about their future opportunities, trying a few new things, and making candy sushi! Big thanks to our students and staff in HHS CTE for hosting the ninjas for their culminating experiece after a year of hard work!

Congratulations to our April Young Citizenship Award recipients! Presented by the Hastings Kiwanis Club, this special honor recognizes students who consistently lead by example through kindness, integrity, and outstanding character in their daily lives.
