The Hastings Performing Arts Center proudly presents a unique and inspiring evening of music as the Grand Rapids Symphony joins the Hastings High School Symphonic Band for a special side-by-side concert on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Made possible through the generous support of the Douglas A. & Margaret E. DeCamp Foundation, this collaborative performance offers a rare opportunity for student musicians to perform alongside professional symphony members.
The evening will begin with a rousing performance by the Grand Rapids Symphony. Following a brief intermission, students and Symphony musicians — winds and percussion — will come together to perform classic band works including Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo by Malcolm Arnold and Symphony No. 1 “The Lord of the Rings” – Movement I: Gandalf by Johan de Meij. The concert will conclude with a powerful full ensemble performance of Poet and Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppé.
“We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity,” said Spencer White, HPAC & CERC Director. “To see our students sitting side-by-side with these outstanding professional musicians is truly special. It’s an experience that will inspire them for years to come.”
Community members are encouraged to attend and support these talented students in what promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.
