Due to mechanical issues, the Hastings Community Education & Recreation Center (CERC) will be closed this evening. This includes the cancellation of the Black and Gold swim meet.

Before the first bell rings, our bus drivers set the tone for the entire school day, getting our students to each building safely.
We're looking for drivers to join our team and fill an important need in our district, providing competitive pay and flexible hours along the way.

The back-to-school vibes are at an all-time high today in Hastings. Welcome back, everyone!
Our seniors were the first to step onto campus bright and early this morning for their last first day of school. Despite a partially cloudy sky hiding the sun, Senior Sunrise was still a hit with everyone gathering for breakfast, lawn games, and a chance to catch up with friends before the morning bell.
With only 180 school days standing between today and graduation, every moment counts. Take it all in, class of 2027!

The 2026 Manufacturing Summer Camp kicked off today! Middle schoolers had the opportunity to tour Viking Group, Inc., one of our local manufacturers. Students also started the entrepreneurship curriculum and enjoyed a bite to eat.
The Manufacturing Summer Camp is a partnership between Hastings Area Schools, SparkForce, and the local community. The program aims to expose middle school students to manufacturing skills to help them start planning for a career. Students learn about educational pathways for manufacturing positions, necessary certifications, basic financial concepts, and projected career opportunities in the field.

We will be hosting local physicians on Tuesday, August 4, at the high school gym and locker room area so students can complete a physical for the 2026–27 athletic season.
Physicals for girls will be held from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m., with boys to follow from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. This year, we are suggesting a $10 donation per physical to help cover the costs of providing this service. However, please do not let the donation keep you from attending Physical Night. We want to ensure as many of our Saxons as possible are set up for their upcoming seasons!
Physicals are open to incoming 6th graders through incoming seniors and will be valid for the entire 2026–27 athletic year. As a reminder, all of our student-athletes' information must be registered through FinalForms.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the athletic office at 269-945-6164.

Last night’s school board meeting featured two new members who were recently appointed to their positions. Please join us in welcoming Nick Marlatt (who was unable to attend due to a prior commitment) and Kevin Dickinson!
We look forward to introducing you to both of our new board members in the coming month. Before we do, we want to extend a sincere thank you to outgoing members Mike Nickels and Jennifer Eastman, who have stepped down from their posts. Their dedicated service has greatly benefited our district, students, and community.
Thank you, Mike and Jennifer!

A huge congratulations to a Saxon who is accomplishing BIG things. Ky uses our Hastings Virtual Academy to bring her education on the road with her as she zig-zags across the country competing as a young, up-and-coming rodeo star.
At the 34th Annual International Finals Youth Rodeo this past week in Shawnee, Oklahoma, she was crowned champion of Breakaway Roping. Great work! We look forward to seeing what’s next as she represents the Saxons on a national level!

Due to poor air quality stemming from the Canadian wildfires, our teams and clubs will not be holding any activities outdoors today, Thursday, July 16. Please consult with your coaches or advisors for further information, as indoor activities are still permitted.

We know that many students might not want to hear this, but we are already past the halfway point of summer (cue the applause from parents)! It is time to make sure your child's enrollment is all set. Whether you still need help with free preschool, Young 5s, kindergarten, School of Choice, or Hastings Virtual Academy, whatever your enrollment needs may be, our administrative staff is standing by to help you get everything squared away.

Last week, we celebrated a successful three weeks of innovation and creativity by welcoming parents to our Coding Camp finale.
Students demonstrated the projects they’ve worked so diligently on, including stop-motion videos, video games, and engineered cardboard games. They even capped off the celebration with some popsicles! Great work this summer!
