The grill is on at Northeastern Elementary for the school's Spring Picnic! A big thanks to Mr. Moore for facilitating all the special meal events around the district over the past few weeks.

On Saturday, Bella and Olivia Friddle represented the Saxons at the track state finals!
Huge congratulations to Bella for placing 5th in high jump with an impressive 5'3" jump, earning All-State honors for the second year in a row! 🏅🙌
Bella also qualified and competed in long jump, while Olivia qualified and competed in shot put. Great work to both athletes for making it to State and competing at such a high level!

Breakfast is Served! 🥞🎓
As their time at Hastings Middle School comes to a close, we treated our eighth graders to a delicious breakfast to celebrate their journey. Enjoy your final week as a middle schooler — you've earned it!

The Varsity Singers stopped in to perform for Central Elementary students to end the day off!
🏃♂️🌟 The competition was fierce at Star Elementary's Field Day! From tug-of-war to jumbo bowling, our young athletes gave it their all. So much talent, energy, and school spirit on display!
Northeastern knows how to throw a party! Today’s Rock-N-Run Slip and Slide Party was a total hit with foam everywhere, bounce house fun, and a giant slip-n-slide that kept everyone laughing. The weather couldn’t have been better, either!
Mr. Renner’s 6th grade Success Skills with Technology class is putting old Chromebooks to good use, even after their prime. Over the past few days, students have been carefully taking the devices apart to identify and learn about each component. The goal is to keep every part intact while gaining a hands-on understanding of computer hardware.
Enjoy the sounds of the Saxons band program in a truly unique setting. Our annual Concert in the Hayfield is TODAY, May 29, 2025.
It features both the Thornapple Jazz Orchestra and our own 8th- through 11th-grade band. We're trading the HPAC for a wide open hayfield for this one.
We'll have ice cream, concessions and a silent auction, so make sure you bring some cash and a lawn chair!

Just like their senior classmates last week, the underclassmen of Hastings High School gathered at the HPAC last night for a special evening of recognition. The event highlighted outstanding academic achievement, with department awards handed out to students who have gone above and beyond in their coursework this year. The stage was filled with proud and hardworking students!

Food just tastes a little better when it's enjoyed outside, picnic-style, and Central Elementary students seemed to agree as they welcomed their parents and special friends for the Spring Picnic this afternoon. Families shared a meal under the sun. Students also had the opportunity to choose a free book to take home and enjoy over the summer.
This morning, parents, staff, and students came together at Star Elementary to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students. From small trophies to certificates, recognition was given across all grade levels and in a variety of categories. A great way to start the day! 🌟
Our marching band had the honor of performing in the Memorial Day Parade, with a stop at the Veterans Memorial by Tyden Park.
Megan Ramey and Owen Boge gave a moving rendition of “Taps,” following a rifle salute by the Honor Guard from the Lawrence J. Bauer American Legion Post 45.
Thank you to everyone who came out to honor and remember those who served.

Today, we hope that everyone has the opportunity to pause, remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
At Hastings Area School System, we are deeply grateful for the heroes who have served and those who continue to serve. Thank you.

Northeastern Elementary students are burning off all sorts of energy today for Field Day!

On the eve of graduation, Hastings High School seniors came together at the Hastings Performing Arts Center on Wednesday for Senior Honors Night.
The evening celebrated students receiving academic and athletic awards, along with a wide range of local scholarships made possible by generous individuals, families, and community organizations. It was a great moment to reflect on and recognize everything the Class of 2025 has achieved.
A little (or a lot) of rain wasn’t enough to wash out Central Elementary’s field day today. They moved the action inside and still had a great time.
Two Saxons are headed to Kellogg Community College to continue their bowling careers. Miles Lipsey signed his National Letter of Intent last week, and Hunter Pennington made it official today. Huge congratulations to both!

At Hastings Southeastern Elementary, 36 students had the opportunity to connect with a dedicated mentor throughout the school year. With the year coming to a close, we hosted a special assembly today to recognize and celebrate these mentors for their unwavering support and commitment to their students.
Our awesome fifth graders just took home their own copies of the annual “My Future Me” book, hot off the press from J-Ad Graphics.
This special keepsake is packed with letters from students in schools across the county, written to their future selves. Inside holds big dreams, bold advice, and some heartwarming and hilarious predictions.
Here's some advice from Kora at Star Elementary:
“Do not let anyone, and I mean anyone, ever, dull your sparkle!”
Well said, Kora.
